Getting NTRP rating adjusted
by Tom

Q: I was playing in a 5.0 league 17 years ago, and struggled to play in that league for 10 years (mostly in the last doubles position). I am now 59 years old with sore joints and can no longer keep up with the young guns that play at that level. How can I get my rating lowered to the 4.5 level?

A: To get your USTA NTRP Rating changed you will have to join a USTA League and self rate yourself based on what you feel your ability is. Caution if you rate yourself to low you could risk a default from a match. If after a season of league play at the self rated level you will be issued a book rating at your level. Also some club Pros still offer to provide you a club rating if you need help to find your self rating. Brian
